SHOP TILL YOU DROP !!
Some of you may be aware now that Mr Boydell, Miss Boydell and Mr Spark have been chosen to represent Scotland in the forthcoming European Championships in Sweden from 28th April - 3rd May.   Mr Boydell and Mr Spark will be competing in senior and junior Team Patterns, Team Sparring and Team Board Breaking while Mrs Boydell is competing in Ladies Team Patterns.

Unfortunately there is no funding for them to attend this event so they have to raise the money themselves.  They are writing to ask some companies if they would sponsor us, but in case this approach is unsuccessful, they have decided to have a fundraiser shopping event to try and raise funds to attend.  They have to pay for our flights, accommodation, transport in Sweden and the competition fees and it has been adding up rather quickly!!!

On Sunday 18th April from 12:00 - 2:00 they are holding a shopping event at the Burgh Hall in Inverbervie.  There will be a number of stalls including, Thistle Kids, Partylite, Phoenix Cards, Crystal Nail Files, Jewellery stands, Hats, Handbags and Accessories, Virgin Vie etc. etc.  It is hoped to have 12-15 different stalls.  There will also be a raffle, tombola and a couple of other stalls to try your luck.   There will be tea and coffee served as well so you can put your feet up after enjoying a spot of shopping under one roof!
Please put this worthy event in your diary and do your best to support Mr & Miss Boydell and Mr Spark to represent Scotland. If anyone has any other ideas on how to raise funds please let Stuart or Colette know.
Held at Inverbervie Sports Centre. Doors open at 1pm, probably starting at 1:30pm (est time of finish 4pm ish).  Competition entry fee is £10 and spectators will be £2 over 16 yrs, £1 over 5yrs and all younger children are free.  All participants will receive a medal at the start of the event.

There are 3 events - Body Armour Sparring (body armour provided)
                           - Memory Test
                           - Board Breaking

Mr Boydell expects to have over 60 competitors which will be split into three groups based on height and run a round robin.

Body Armour Sparring - 1 min of point sparring with contact only to the body armour, 1 point for punch, 2 for a kick, no warnings.

Board Breaking - Left & Right leg Front snap kick, students choose which board they want to try for each leg - 1 point for white board, 2 points for yellow and so on!  The student with the most points wins gold, and so on.  If tied then those students will go again until there is a Gold, Silver & Bronze (just 1 bronze).

Memory - Like sparring two students will compete against each other in a duel, back to back! A sequence of numbers will be called out, each number relates to a certain technique.  They have to perform the techniques in the correct order starting with 3 numbers. If both students are correct they are recalled to the start and given an additional number and so on until 1 student forgets.  The winner advances into the next round.

Numbers and Techniques are:

1 - Walking Ready Stance
2 - Walking Stance Punch
3 - Front Snap Kick, land in L-stance Guarding Block
4 - Walking Stance Rising Block

The emphasis is on memory, not how they perform the technique!

We hope to see you there! Also any blackbelts or senior coloured belts who would like to gain some umpire experience in a more relaxed fun atmosphere would be more than welcome.  Umpires should be dressed as normal, trousers, white shirt and tie. Anyone interested in competing or Umpiring please contact Stuart or Miss Brisco at training.

Montrose & Forfar Schools are holding a coloured belt grading in Montrose Sports Centre on Monday 29th March. Only students who have been advised by their Instructors will be grading. The grading session will begin at 7pm, but there may be access to a hall from 6pm for students to practice or warm up.

Master Thompson 7th Degree will be attending to carry out a KKB grading. Start time is as normal ie 8:30pm.  Once again, only students previously notified will be grading.
