Montrose school of TaeKwon-Do attended the inaugrual TaeKwon-Do and Kickboxing Open championship in Livingston on Sunday 3rd May and enjoyed a hugely successful competition.

Montrose school entered a team of four, 3 senior (Stuart Hamilton, Ross Leport and Johnnie Leslie) and 1 junior (Kirstie McNairn). Between them the four competitors won 9 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze medals , a fantastic achievement for such a small squad.

The seniors team swept the board winning all Sparring and Patterns Individual and Team events, while Kirstie McNairn won Gold in 13-17yrs Patterns on her competition debut. Also Miss Colette Brisco had her first experience of umpiring at a TKD tournament.

“I am very proud of them all ” said Mr McNairn “especially my daughter of course, with it being her first ever competition, and it just goes to show that all the hard work and effort we put in in training, pays off when it counts”

“We now have to get back to training, and concentrate on the British championships coming up  on  Saturday 13 June ”.
